Romax’ Biodegradable Plastics With EcoPure®Plastic waste is a pervasive and global problem. Even as recycling rates rise, not all plastics can be recycled, and many end up in landfills.

Biodegradable plastics help solve the problem of plastic waste and is a clean energy source.  Romax has been thoroughly researching and testing to make our products environmentally friendly and we are pleased to announce our products are now biodegradable. We use a new organic additive called EcoPure® that aims to help the environment by accelerating the biodegradation process.

Our biodegradable products do not decompose prematurely, our additive is only activated when it is in the presence of landfill microorganisms and enzymes, not on the shelf, during transportation or the usable life of the plastic product.  This means that our products will only begin to biodegrade at the end of the usable product life, if the plastic product is not recycled first (EcoPure® treated products are also suitable for Kerb side recycling).

Our biodegradable products will remain the same Style, Durability and Premium Quality as before, as the additive does not affect the integrity, quality, strength, durability or the appearance, texture and safety. The only difference is our products will now be Biodegradable.

While you have several plastic waste solutions to choose from our biodegradable products offers some of the best benefits in comparison to others;

  •  Compostable plastic is designed to biodegrade in commercial composting facilities. However EcoPure® is designed to biodegrade in landfill environments where more than 85% of plastics end up.
  •  Compostable packages are not designed to degrade in landfill environments. Instead, compostable packages are designed to biodegrade under specific conditions (e.g. heat, moisture) that are only achieved at commercial composting facilities. These facilities are not available in many locations.
  • Oxo-degradable plastics can leave behind harmful byproducts, EcoPure® treated plastics break down completely, forming inert biomass and can generate clean energy.
