Understanding How EcoPure® Works

EcoPure® allows the microbes to create a thin biofilm that completely coats the plastic wastes. This biofilm forms on the treated plastics only when exposed to various bacteria and enzymes found in landfills. The microbes emit chemical signals that are part of their sensing process, which help to attract other microbes. This helps the microbes to effectively break down the polymer chain bonds, which accelerates the biodegradation process.

Standard compostable products aren’t designed to degrade in the landfill environment. Instead, they are designed to biodegrade in environments that have specific moisture and heat conditions. These conditions are achieved only at commercial composting facilities, which aren’t available in easily accessible locations.

More than 85% of plastics today end up in landfills, and this is a problem of immense proportions. It also means that when it comes to protecting the environment, no effort is too insignificant.
